How can businesses retain their employees if they can’t offer a pay increase?

We asked New Zealand employees what other benefits would encourage them to stay with an organisation if more money was not an option.

Extra Annual Leave

Extra annual leave appealed to over a third of Kiwi employees (36%). In addition to extra annual leave, 16% of New Zealanders would like an extra day off for their birthday each year and 12% would like a monthly RDO.

Flexible Working Arrangements

Flexible working arrangements is one of the top non-financial benefits (31%) that appeals to Kiwis. Reduced working hours also appeal to a fifth (20%) of workers.

Paid Training / Professional Development

Paid training and professional development opportunities appeal to 19% of Kiwi workers. With 15% of workers placing value on subsidies for education and external training.
